Terms of Service

1. Service description

upii.eu provides an API for anonymizing personally identifiable information (PII). The service detects and replaces PII in text and documents with placeholders. All processing is performed on European infrastructure.

2. Registration and account

You must provide a valid email address. You are responsible for securing your account and API keys. Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access.

3. Plans and pricing

Plans, prices and page quotas are those on the Pricing page; the subscription rules are in section 11. Custom arrangements (self-hosted deployment) are covered by a separate agreement.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the service for illegal activities.
  • Attempt to bypass rate limits or authentication.
  • Reverse engineer the service.
  • Resell API access without authorization.

5. Data and privacy

Text sent to the text API is processed in memory and not retained after the response. Documents uploaded to a dossier are stored (original encrypted at rest, anonymised output, encrypted entity map) under the retention periods, storage locations and sub-processors set out in our privacy policy.

6. Service availability

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation. Planned maintenance will be announced in advance.

7. Limitation of liability

The service is provided "as is." We do not guarantee that anonymization will be exhaustive in all cases. You remain responsible for verifying that anonymized output meets your regulatory requirements.

Our liability is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the preceding 12 months.

8. Termination

You may delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access for violation of these terms, with prior notice except in emergencies.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by Belgian law. Disputes fall under the jurisdiction of the courts of Brussels, Belgium.

10. Changes

We may modify these terms with 30 days' notice via email. Continued use of the service after modification constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

11. Subscriptions and payment

This section applies to paid plans. The plans, their monthly page quotas and their prices are shown on our pricing page.

  • Plans: every plan includes every feature; only the monthly page quota differs. Prices are in euros, excl. VAT.
  • Renewal: a subscription renews at the end of each billing period, monthly or annual as you chose, until you cancel it.
  • Page quota: each page of an uploaded document counts as one page; a scanned or image page counts as 3 pages. When your monthly quota is used up, new uploads wait until next month or until you change plan.
  • Cancellation: you can cancel at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for.
  • Failed payment: if a payment fails, your account stays usable for 7 days. After that it becomes read-only: you can still view and download your dossiers, but not process new files.
  • Invoices: each payment gets an invoice, sent by e-mail. VAT is added where it applies.
  • Payment processing: payments are processed by Mollie. See our privacy policy.
  • Professional use: the service is for professionals. By subscribing you confirm that you act for professional purposes.
  • Refunds: cancelling stops renewal; the period already paid is not refunded pro rata. If you were charged by mistake, write to billing@chut.app and we correct it with a credit note. Your statutory rights are not affected.
